You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.
Psalm 119:114 NIV

As the Christmas season approaches, the strength of a promise stands in the forefront of my mind. Starting in Genesis, God began to promise the HOPE of a Savior who would come to repair the damages of sin. Throughout the Old Testament, that promise continues and the nation of Israel finds hope in the Word of God delivered through His prophets.

That promise was fulfilled by the birth of Jesus – the very reason we decorate and celebrate the holiday of Christmas. Hope was delivered through a baby boy over 2,000 years ago. And it is now our mission to share that HOPE with all that we meet.

As a prayer partner for an at-risk child, you may feel as though your words don’t hold much hope or power. But every time you speak that child’s name to God, every time you cry out on behalf of that child, every time you are at a loss for words to communicate to God the need – hope is delivered through your words. Your prayers come with great strength – YOU are a HOPE speaker in the life of a child.

My Prayer
Father,
Thank You for the opportunity to join You in the mission of communicating hope. Let me not forget that my role as a prayer partner for a child comes with Your power. Let me not grow weary in praying, but to boldly speak my child’s name and claim Your promises on his/her behalf.

Lord, you created {child’s name} with a purpose in mind. Although his/her situation is not the best, You are his/her shield and refuge. As the celebration of Your promise of HOPE draws near, I ask that You begin to work your promises in the life of {child’s name}. Amen.
